Romain
& Martin
USA
Romain's first time in the USA was in 2002 (NYC) with the World Youth Days. He spent several weeks in Florida over the next years, while Martin was frequently in Atlanta from 2010. We both discovered the beautiful Pacific Coast much later, in 2013. What we did there is shown in the video below.

IMG_0527 | San Francisco - May 2013San Francisco has and always will be a hotbed of freedom, love and art. Venice Beach, California - June 2013 | Monterey, California - May 2013This cypress is one of the landmarks of the 17-mile drive, a scenic road through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach on the Monterey peninsula. The tree is said to be more than 250 years old. More infos: pebblebeach.com | Venice Beach, California - June 2013This mural, completed in 2012 by artist Jonas Never, remembers a past age of Venice and adorns the side of Danny's Deli on Windward Avenue. It is adapted from Hollywood legend Orson Welles' 1958 film "Touch of Evil". The film featured Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh, who are shown on the mural's foreground. Here is the film's opening shot. Have you noticed the two (real) persons on the right bottom corner? ;-) |
West 42nd St., Manhattan, 200442nd Street is a major crosstown street in the New York City borough of Manhattan, known for its theaters, especially near the intersection with Broadway at Times Square. It is also the name of the region of the theater district (and, at times, the red-light district) near that intersection. | Brooklyn Bridge, New York, Sept 2004One of the oldest suspension bridge in the USA (1883!), spanning the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge was designed by the German John Roebling. His son Washington took over after his death caused by crush injury during construction, but Washington suffered a paralysing injury as a result of decompression sickness. At the end, it's his wife Emily Warren who ended up supervising the construction. | Dancing car |
Black & colourSan Francisco Carnaval - May 2013 Carnaval San Francisco is a two-day event featuring a Grand Parade celebrating music and cultural elements from Latin American and Caribbean traditions. It is the largest multi-cultural celebration on the West Coast and reminds me a bit of the Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin! 2013's theme was Carnaval Harlem Shake. San Francisco - May 2013San Francisco is a city that often thinks outside the box when it comes to homelessness. In 2013, San Francisco's Recreation and Parks Department rolled out its newest tactic toward achieving the goal of eliminating homelessness: soccer. The city joined with nonprofit group Street Soccer USA in hosting the West Coast Cup, an event that works to encourage physical and mental health for the city's homeless while connecting participants with much-needed services and fundraising. | West Hollywood Park, Los Angelestaken in June 2013 | NYSE, NYC, USA - Sept 2004The world's largest stock exchange by market capitalisation of its listed companies, and a historical building as its origin can be traced to 1792, when the Buttonwood agreement was signed under a buttonwood tree on Wall Street.
